School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering DRNTU::Engineering::Electrical and electronic engineering::Control and instrumentation::Medical electronics The objective of this project is to develop a mobile application which can be helpful for T1 diabetic for determining their daily insulin intake. The application named “Insulin Recommender” overcomes the flaws in similar applications that currently exist in the market. The application is developed on J2ME platform which being free, contributes to its low development cost and support over a wide range of mobile devices. The PC interface for the mobile application is developed on Visual Basic.NET. The PC interface will help to import data from the mobile device to the PC. The scope of the project includes development of two applications, one for mobile/hand held devices and the other for personal computers; to communicate the information collected using the mobile device. The Insulin Recommender can be operated in two different modes 1) Basic: In this mode the application itself will calculate the settings for the user based on general rules 2) Advanced: In this mode, experienced users can pre set their personalized settings Once the setting is entered, it will be stored in the memory and this can be modified by the user at any time. Once the Blood sugar level and carbohydrate value are keyed in, the Insulin Recommender will recommend the user about the quantity of insulin he/she have to take based on the setting values and previous history. Later the user can connect the phone to their computer and can import all the data from the mobile device. The data can be saved to the computer as a “.txt” file. Thus the users will not loss their data even when the device is lost or changed. However the application can be run only on devices that support Java. Similar application can be developed for I-phone also, but it is not covered under the scope of this project. The objective of this project is to develop a mobile application which can be helpful for T1 diabetic for determining their daily insulin intake.
The Insulin Recommender can be operated in two different modes
1) Basic: In this mode the application itself will calculate the settings for the user based on general rules
2) Advanced: In this mode, experienced users can pre set their personalized settings
Once the setting is entered, it will be stored in the memory and this can be modified by the user at any time. |
