Summary: | The knowledge of Raman effect which is also known as fingerprinting of the universe, the recent invention of lasers and technological advances have made Raman spectroscopy a powerful tool in determining the vibrational and structural properties of the nanosized crystals. In this project, the nanosized crystal is Zinc Oxide (ZnO). ZnO has been heavily researched on in the recent years due to its wide bandgap and highly piezoelectric nature which are promising in optoelectronic and microelectronic applications.
This project focuses on whether there will be any effect on the ZnO nanocrystals when ZnO nanocrystals undergo heating. The ZnO will be first deposited on a piece of Quartz by using sputtering. Next, it will be sliced into 6 pieces and each piece will undergo heating at a different temperature, ranging from 3000C to 8000C. |
