Summary: | The rising awareness of the recent increase in Earth surface temperature prompts human beings to reduce the production of heat and carbon dioxide. Besides, the cost of running oil/gas-based power plants will increase due to increasing crude oil price, while renewable energy power plants will become cheaper to install over time as technology matures. One of the clean energy viable for research purposes is the solar power.
One challenge in the deployment of solar power system is the integration of solar power with the existing utility power supply. In this project, AC utility supply from SP Powergrid will be converted to DC and connected in parallel with the output of solar panel, then converted back to AC for public consumptions. Problems and challenges of the integration and conversion of solar and utility power will be investigated. |
