Summary: | The aim of this project is design an experimental setup to conduct experiments so as to understand the kinetics of carbon dioxide adsorption by activated carbons.
The surface properties of the adsorbate, carbon nanotubes, are first investigated before being subjected to testing.
The experiment is repeated 4 times at 4 different temperatures, with at least 8 different pressures being administered at each temperature. In doing so, how the rate of adsorption & the equilibrium uptake of the adsorbent are affected both by temperature as well as pressure is observed.
Based on these observations, the results are applied to the Linear Driving Force Model for kinetics get a better understanding of the adsorbent material properties. Using these these properties, adsorption results for other temperatures can be predicted. |
