Summary: | There are four blocks of buildings where the School of Electrical and Electronics Engineering is currently sited. The vast school compound encompasses a large network
of offices, laboratories, and other research facilities. At many instances, students find themselves lost in a maze, unsure of the directions towards their point of interest. This has proven to be an overwhelming feat even for the senior students in school when they
are finding a particular professor’s office or facility; let alone the external vendors and
visitors who step feet into the school for the first time.
To address the issue, two interactive touch screen panels had been put in place at the office levels of S1 and S2, acting as digital address books. They have allowed users to key in a search query, for example a professor’s name; and return the alphanumeric address. The routing algorithm implemented in the existing system generates a route for users to their point of interest. The route is then represented on a two dimensional map illustration to the users. |
