Description
Summary:The purpose of this project is to investigate how nanoparticles affect the properties of epoxy coatings. Samples of epoxy coatings with varying concentrations of nanoparticles will be prepared and tested on their hardness and adhesion properties to analyze how nanoparticles affect them. The first part of the project is intended for fabricating samples of the epoxy coating. The second part consists of experiments that are aimed at achieving results on the epoxy’s adhesion and coating properties before and after the addition of nanoparticles. These results were then compared with those indicated in the literature. The laboratory experiments conducted for the adhesion test showed similarity in results and proved that nanoparticles improved the adhesion properties of the coating. However, for the hardness test, the results were inconclusive. The experimental results are processed and the best concentration of nanoparticles to be added into epoxy is proposed. It is recommended that further research could be done to investigate the dispersion of nanoparticles within the epoxy mixture.
