Tan Soon Yim School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering DRNTU::Engineering::Electrical and electronic engineering::Wireless communication systems This report contains the formulation of the theoretical models for the propagation model, the process of the development of the propagation model and the issues encountered during the development of the propagation model. A two-dimensional wave propagation model was developed using MATLAB and the propagation model was formulated based on the Uniform theory of Diffraction (UTD) to account reflections and diffractions for indoor and urban environments. The formulation of the propagation model is currently limited to two-dimensional case where all the fields are perpendicular to the edge and only perfectly conducting flat surface is taken into consideration for the propagation model. The theoretical results gathered from the two-dimensional wave propagation model are compared with other author’ published measurements to test the validity and applicability of the propagation model developed. Within the scope of the two-dimensional propagation model, the accuracy of the model developed is limited to the geometry scenarios in the published result. Further improvement and development could be carry out to extend the two-dimensional propagation model to a three-dimensional model to account diffractions and reflections for indoor and urban environment and at the same time verifying the applicability of the model developed.
