Yao Shuntian School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Yang Jinglei DRNTU::Engineering::Aeronautical engineering::Materials of construction This report documented the year long Final Year Project programme done by the student from July 2010 to May 2011. With the help of detailed diagrams, graphs, literature review, etc, this report gives an insight into the project student undertakes. This project is about the bending properties of different combination of fibre metal laminates using different type of fibre and modified epoxy. It begins with an introduction of this project and an overview of fibre metal laminate. The report will cover on the literature review of fibre metal laminate and Glare that the student had researched on. These include the paper on Influence of Porosity on the Inter-laminar Shear Strength of Fibre-Metal Laminates and Galvanic Corrosion-Resistant Carbon Fibre-Metal Laminate (CARALL). The student extracted information related to this project to provide a better understanding into fibre metal laminate. This report also includes the fabrication method of the specimens which includes the surface treatment, lay up process, vacuum bagging and curing cycle. The student also reports on the non-destructive technique that was learnt. In addition, the report will also touch on the procedure of perform three point bending test and the results of the different combination of specimens. The student also discussed about the result and analysis of the result. Finally, the report concludes by summarizing the overall impression of the final year project and describes the overall results obtained.
