Description
Summary:In this project, a biodegradable material BIOCOM Multi-Degradable Resin will be tested on its shape memory effect and related mechanical properties. Firstly, the Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) Analysis will be carried out to determine the important temperatures such as melting temperature (Tm) as well as other thermal properties of this material. In the sample preparation stage, the granular formed material will be fabricated to samples with standard dimension used for the indentation test and the compression test. In the indentation test, the shape memory effect of this material will be studied through indentation test under specific temperature as well as the 3D scanning profile. Lastly, the Instron compression test will help us to understand the thermomechanical behaviors of the sample material. The shape fixity ratio and shape recovery ratio under different levels of compression will also be analyzed. Therefore the potential application of this type of biodegradable material will be discussed at the end of the report.
