Summary:The aim of this project is to investigate prospective home buyers on their emotional intent when they view the various homes that they might have interest in. In this report, the author will be looking at the current state of housing design in Singapore, in particular Housing Development Board (HDB) flats as the majority of its citizens reside in this accommodation. Further research into the Citarasa methodology and human emotions will also be look into and the impact it has on the decision-making process of individuals. In addition, this report will also look into the design concepts adapted by interior designers in designing homes that appeal to people. The author will also look into the Feng Shui methodology, as Singapore is a multi-cultural but mainly Asian city, this ancient Chinese art of improving one’s individual fortune is used by both residential and commercial entities. After analysis of survey results and discussion, the factors that influence the decision making for citizens of Singapore were pinpointed. Understand these factors will help contribute in influencing future design schemes of building construction and design in this country.
