Description
Summary:Dynamic load management is alternative solution towards the traditional ways of providing ancillary services by controlling the demand of non-time critical load in the response of changes in the system. It could lead to significant reduction in cost and carbon dioxide as well as it could help to facilitate the connection of intermittent renewable energy generation, such as solar and wind power. This solution is made feasible by implementation of smart grid in power system. As the price of petroleum keeps increasing, many car manufacturers start to market more and more electric vehicle (EV) and hybrid electric vehicle (HEV). This can be seen as a huge potential on adoption of V2G enabled electric vehicles or hybrid vehicles. In aggregate, these V2G enabled EV and HEV are able to provide significant amount of power to balance any mismatch between supply and demand in the grid. Hence, it will reduce the utilities dependency on traditional ancillary services. The aim of this report is to investigate the impact of Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) in frequency stabilization by using Simulink software. To achieve this, a mathematical model of power system and electrical vehicle battery are developed.
