Recent studies have linked the use of these music players to the increase in noise-induced hearing loss among their users. The noise-induced hearing loss is caused by loud sound/noise exposure that regularly exceeds the safe noise dosage (safe noise exposure durations). Hearing loss, even a mild one, causes inconvenience to the affected children and adolescents in school and sets a precedent for hearing aids in later life. It is imperative that the music player user is aware of his/her noise exposure to prevent him/her from exceeding the safe noise dosage.
