Summary: | Microchip fabrications have come a long way in driving innovation and revolutionizing lifestyles. With new discoveries we delve into various materials, one of which is the fabulous ZnO. This material is important as it has a wide and direct energy bandgap of 3.37eV. It has a large exciton binding energy of 60meV at room temperature. And above all it has one of the richest family of nanoscale configurations including nanorods (or nanowires), nanodiscs, nanobelts, nanosprings and so on. This makes ZnO valuable as a future material. Applications such as sensors, LASERS, LEDs and biomedical devices are possible. |
