Description
Summary:This report illustrates the experience of the author during his 22-week compulsory Industrial Attachment as part of his Bachelor of Engineering (Computer Engineering) course. The author describes his experiences in learning, contributing and improving in two of the many projects he was involved in during his attachment. The GIL 3 Deployment and the Inventory Management Database projects added value to the author’s time spent during the attachment period. In the GIL 3 deployment project, the author learnt the procedures in application delivery. He also learnt how to cater to users’ needs and picked up customer service and people-handling skills. The Inventory Management Database polished the author’s development ability. By stepping outside of the classroom and actually developing a system that will be functionally used within a corporate environment, the user gained plenty of experience in solutions design and development. On the overall, the attachment has been extremely beneficial to the author, enabling him to pick up skills that would otherwise not be taught during his course.
