Description
Summary:This report illustrates the projects and tasks assigned to the author during the 22 weeks of industrial attachment. The author start off with some background of the company that he is attached to, Molex Singapore. Through many years of innovation, Molex has become one of the world leaders in the connectors industry and even invented the nylon plugs and receptacles. Connectors are the link between gaps in circuits and allows current to flow in the circuit path and its reliability is of most importance to customers. Hence the tests being done in the reliability laboratory is critical to ensure the quality and performance of connectors. In the reliability laboratory, the author gets to learn almost all the machines necessary to carried out reliability testing through single-handling a qualification test project and also been assigned several projects and task in relation to the laboratory. One of the project which deals with an Automatic Contact Resistance system allows testing to be done in a time-effective manner while the other project provides the benchmark of being a world-class laboratory. Apart from projects, the task being assigned provides opportunities for the author to apply his electrical, designing and mechanical skills and technical knowledge to solve problems being encountered in the laboratory such as modifying circuits, design fixtures for machines and fabricating work pieces. Future implementation and improvement will continue to be carried out by the author during the last few weeks of his attachment, allowing him to gain an exposure to the life of being an engineer in the real-working environment.
