High rate wireless personal area network
In the report, various wireless communication standards are reviewed. IEEE 802.1 lb, Bluetooth and the upcoming IEEE 802.15.3 all operate on the unlicensed 2.4 GHz Industrial, Scientific and Medical (ISM) frequency band. These standards have different Medium Access Control (MAC), so interference is...

These standards have different Medium Access Control (MAC), so interference is an inevitable issue to be addressed as degradation of the throughput will decrease the efficiency of the wireless systems. To look at the severity of interferences when Bluetooth devices coexist with IEEE 802.11b nodes, the author derived a probability model to investigate the Packet Error Rate (PER) of a Bluetooth piconet operating within close proximity (<0.5 m) of an IEEE 802.1 lb node.
