Nowadays, as the power demand increases and also due to environmental protection, the energy storage plant becomes increasingly important for load management of power systems. Compared with other types of energy storage plants, battery energy storage system (BESS) is superior in (i) its flexibility in installation since it can be installed near the load center, (ii) adapting the load growth quickly because of its short period of installation, and (iii) meeting the fast response requirements of the power system dynamics. In recent years, many research works have been addressed and continuously developed in BESS technology.
