Currently, the third generation (3G), also known as IMT-2000 system, has been adopted in mobile communications. It can provide data transmission capability of up to 2 Mbps. However, since information transferred over the Internet is becoming increasingly rich, the demand for peak rates would be up to lGbps. Even wireless transmission capability of the enhanced IMT-2000 will sooner or later become insufficient. The next generation (4G), which hopefully will be emerged around 2010, is expected to offer mobile users Internet-related broadband multimedia services.
