sg-ntu-dr.10356-470642019-12-10T14:21:41Z A study on the poetry of Shen Quanqi and Song Zhiwen. Kau, Kun Chui. School of Humanities and Social Sciences DRNTU::Humanities 98 p. The current research focuses on Shen Quanqi and Song Zhiwen's poetry. In this study, a revisited examination on Shen Quanqi and Song Zhiwen's poetry is first conducted especially in relating to their Court poems. It is then followed by a cogent evaluation on their work. The study starts with an examination on issues and theory on "regulated verse" produced by Shen Quanqi and Song Zhiwen to provide a systematic review and an exploration on fuzzy points which may exist in their work. The regulated verse produced by both poets is originated from the Tang Dynasty. Subsequently there were scholars who further elaborated this view except that they rarely dispute it. In regards to this, the current study is an attempt to investigate this issue academically. Having an initial study on Shen Quanqi and Song Zhiwen's work, the researcher observes that there are differences between the ancient regulated verse and the "five characters eight lines" and "seven characters eight lines" in the modern verse. More specifically, the variation in their literary forms is what researchers must pay attention in the discussion on regulated verse by Shen Quanqi and Song Zhiwen. However, this has often been overlooked in most of the literary history studies.
