sg-ntu-dr.10356-470872023-03-11T17:14:07Z Product analysis and evaluation from the aspect of environmental impact Asha Asok. School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering DRNTU::Engineering::Manufacturing 148 p. The industrial practice in the product design scenario is changing. The new trend implements new standards on product evaluation. It's partially due to the onset of new regulatory pressures notably from WEEE (Waste Electrical & Electronic Equipment), RoHS (Reduction of Hazardous Substances) and ELV (End-of-Life Vehicle) on industries like electronics and automotive. Thus these regulations force product companies to implement processes to collect, organize, analyze, and report detailed materials and substance data related to all new products. While the race is to produce more innovative products at reduced costs, these regulations require companies to spend resources on "Design for Environment and Design for Compliance". Firstly, organizations must proactively identify material compliance issues early in the design processes. OEM's are primarily required to standardize product compliance procedures enterprise-wide and exchange material and substance data with suppliers via automated standard formats.
