Successful implementation of robots in place of human labor for finishing process of large blade surfaces used in aerospace industries helps to achieve better product quality, reliability and cost reduction. Many issues such as appropriate training strategies and hardware-software synchronization must be handled to establish the technical capability in robotic finishing of large blades. Presently, they are constrained by the capabilities of the CAD software which is limited for robots up to five axes and robotics software which is not able to generate a consistent and modifiable tool path. Hence, it is of utmost importance to develop an application which can generate customized tool path patterns even for seven-axis robots, and also consistent for all types of surfaces. The generated tool path must also be modified for further optimization. This is not impossible but difficult to achieve, without the use of a customized third-party application.
