Total hip replacement (THR) has been a tremendous success as compared to other surgical operations with low rates of failure and complications. It has, in general, brought quality of life back to the patients who otherwise have been under tremendous pain and needed constant dosage of painkillers. However, in the pursuit of better results from the operation, doctors and researchers have been looking at the effects of implant material properties on bone loss and interface loosening in Total Hip Replacement and how to improve the lifespan of the hip implant using innovative materials that are currently available in the market. It is in the hope that with new breakthrough in materials, it will help to improve the quality of life of patients.
