Abaqus offers a number of user-subroutines for the users to program certain functions to complement and enhance the performance of the software. Among these user-subroutines, the UEL user-subroutine allows the user to formulate his/her own methods in the computation of element matrices and vectors. In this study, the UEL user-subroutine is used to implement 8-node quadrilateral plane stress elements for the purpose of carrying out linear static, geometrically non-linear static and free vibration analyses.
