Low Temperature Co-fired Ceramic (LTCC) substrates are often assessed according to their dimensional accuracy and stability. Overall shrinkage and dimension tolerances after sintering are known to pose challenges for component assemblies especially in assembled parts where high importance is placed on fine-pitch mounting processes involving mouldings and cavities. Heating and cooling rates have consequences on diffusion mechanisms that occur during ceramic sintering. These diffusion mechanisms influence densification behavior and subsequently, final part dimensions. The current work analyzes the sintering and densification behavior and characteristics of a commercial Low Temperature Co-fired Ceramic (LTCC) material.
