Over the years, 3ds MAX has become one of the main software to build 3D models and animations. 3ds MAX9 character studio provides many new functions to facilitate short film production and game development. This project describes the process of modeling butterflies in details and simulating their flight with flapping wings based on 3ds MAX9. The basic materials, lighting and rendering will also be iscussed in the report. One of the challenges in this project is to simulate 300 butterflies for crowd motion.
