Constructivism has been used in International Relations to explore how perceptions are shaped, and decisions influenced. This study advocates taking a "bottom-up" approach to the study of ideational factors. It adopts Dr. Edgar Schein's framework for analysis of organizational culture. Using this framework, the paper scrutinizes the organizational norms of the Tatmadaw (armed forces) in Myanmar. It demonstrates that the organizational culture of the Tatmadaw shapes the ways in which Myanmar conducts its international relations.
