Polymorphism is a highly significant aspect in the quality control of pharmaceutical and fine chemical products. Polymorphs (different crystalline forms of the same compound) can have great impact on the physicochemical properties of drug substances. Hence, controlling a final product with reproducible desired polymorph is of paramount importance. Polymorphic crystallization is a complicated process involving multiple mechanisms, which demand a comprehensive consideration of thermodynamics, kinetic factors and crystal features of these polymorphs.
