Summary:On Durkheim’s concept of the different subtypes of Suicide, many theorists have followed up on his concept and used them to investigate and discuss suicide patterns in different countries. This research however, will focus on Durkheim’s conceptualization of anomie as the lack of regulation to investigate its relevance in the recent food scandals. My research thus investigates the degree of the acceptance of morality by the general public in helping with food regulation. My findings show that morality to a large extent is not acceptable as the sole regulator to eliminate food scandals but rather, it could be useful in enhancing existing governmental and industrial regulations.
