每年农历七月是华人的中元节，也俗称“鬼节”。新加坡庆中元的活动除了祭拜“好兄弟”、竞标福物等，更少不了为“好兄弟”而设的娱乐节目——歌台。歌台现已成为中元节的“指标”。就如《881音乐剧》的导演吴文德所说，歌台是很具有新加坡本土色彩的东西，也是我们中元节不能缺少的一个活动。1 2007年，本地导演陈子谦拍摄了新加坡首部以歌台为背景的电影，《881》。此外，《881》也是新加坡第一部歌舞片。《881》播出后受到广大新加坡人的欢迎，取得了票房佳绩。电影也受到前国务资政吴作栋先生的赞赏。《881》炒热了新加坡歌台，使得现在的歌台规模越做越大。歌台文化实际上已经成为新加坡的文化特色之一。本文将探讨电影《881》如何呈现歌台这一通俗文化，让大家重新认识歌台。Every lunar 7th month is known as the mid-year festival, or more commonly known as "Ghost Festival" or "Hungry Ghost Festival". In celebration of this period, festive events include paying respects and praying to the deceased, bidding for auspicious items and definitely not to be missed, the "getai" staged for the dead. Getai plays a central role in the celebration of the mid-year festival. Just as the Director of the 881 Musical, Mr Goh Boon Teck, put it, getai is an essential and irreplaceable part of the mid-year festival, as it is a vibrant embodiment of our local flavour and culture. In 2007, talented local director Royston Tan filmed "881", the first movie in Singapore with a backdrop centered on getai. It is also Singapore's first musical film. 881 achieved overwhelming success and gained tremendous support from Singaporeans, achieving excellent box-office records. The movie was also well-received even by Emeritus Senior Minister, Mr Goh Chok Tong. 881 ignited the passion of the local getai scene, enlarging the scale of getai shows across the island. In fact, getai culture has become a part of Singapore's diverse culture. This paper explores the effects of the movie 881 the rediscovery of the beauty of getai and the ways in which the movie was able to popularize getai culture.
