Being responsive to changes no longer guarantees long term success of organizations. Instead, organizations have to constantly innovate and reexamine their business models in order to anticipate changes and stay ahead of their competitors. The Literature Review provides a brief introduction of Creative Destruction, and the Strategic Management Process, including the formulation and implementation of strategies. Also in the literature review, relevant managerial concepts important in helping firms inch forward to success are discussed. This report uses the analysis of three companies - IBM Corporation, Borders Group Inc., and Netflix Inc., to study the process of implementing Creative Destruction through the adaptation of the Strategic Management Process. The cases of IBM and Borders highlight the importance of the strategic formulation, while the last case, Netflix provides a refreshing insight on Creative Destruction, by exemplifying the importance of other managerial concepts as an important stepping stone for companies to achieve their long-term objectives.
