Description
Summary:The Preparation of “Cellulose nanowhiskers reinforced biocomposite materials and effect of nanofiller on scaffold properties” is the final year project being researched upon. The biomaterial is selected and cell culture is done on the biomaterial to test for compatibility of cells on the biomaterial. The report covers the physico-chemical and biological properties of a novel biodegradable composite scaffold made of natural derived nano-crystalline cellulose and biodegradable polyurethane (PU). PU was synthesized using poly (ε-caprolactone) diol as a soft segment, 4, 4’-methylene bis (phenylisocynate), L-lysine diisocyanate and butane diol as a hard segment. The physico-chemical properties of synthesized polyurethane and composite were tested by infrared-absorption spectra (IR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), universal material testing machine. The biological properties were evaluated by human mesenchymal stem cells (hMSC) cultured experiment in vitro. The cells grown on the biocomposite were monitored and observed for the compatibility with the biomaterial. In addition, the different genes of cells were discussed for further development in the scaffolding properties.
