School of Computer Engineering Centre for Advanced Information Systems Zhang Jie DRNTU::Engineering::Computer science and engineering::Information systems::Information systems applications With the rapid advancement of modem day technologies, traditional ways of learning are undergoing evolution. Students now have a myriad of choices and approaches when dealing with learning and education. With the advancing technologies, students are no longer limited to the traditional way of learning in a classroom style environment. Instead, students are spoilt with other learning channels such as E-learning, watching lecture recordings/videos and studying various educational resources all over the internet etc. For the above reasons, there is a need for a centralized Education System for students to have easy access to learning resources available on the internet in one place. Instead of searching the internet aimlessly looking for materials that might not even help; an educational system can have all the resources be it videos, website links or other formats etc. stored in the database. This can be further improved with the help of an intelligent crawler that can mine the internet for useful resources pertaining to a given concept of study. The proposed system must be able to predict underperforming students so that course managers can render aid to the students as soon as possible should they need help. Students can then access a webpage to access additional materials recommended by the system. Hopefully with the additional help, students can attain an improved grade at the end of the semester. In this report, the author describes some of the related works and research with respect to the project. The author also discusses the system architecture and functionalities of the system as well as touch on the interface design and implementation. Technical details on how the functions are implemented in the system, iEDUcateU are also visited. Finally, the author concludes the report with a summary and possible future works on the system.
