Description
Summary:With the rise of high speed Internet and the technology shift towards mobile and portable devices, post PC devices such as smartphones and tablets have dominated the market in the last century. Many businesses have thus entered the mobile market, using aspects such as social, information sharing and commerce integrated in their mobile applications to uniquely identify themselves. The purpose of 'DealsInterest' project is to integrate a unique business model with all three of these features into a well-polished mobile application. The idea of designing an application that allows sharing of product deals was thought up and approved. DealsInterest is developed by a team of two students, using the waterfall model in the software development life cycle. In this project, the author demonstrates how the three functions of sharing a product deal, browsing of product deals and text search are implemented. This report will described in detail the entire development process, from the first phrase of gathering requirements to the final stage of the experimental testing of the product. The various concepts, algorithms and framework used during the entire course of the project will also be studied in detail. Besides DealsInterest, another mobile application named ViseBuy was implemented. ViseBuy is an existing web based ecommerce system that is build on top of the project Visual Image Search Engine (VISE). There was a need to develop a mobile version of ViseBuy that includes the visual search function, so that testing purposes can be conducted on mobile devices to enhance the efficiency of the visual search performance.
