Description
Summary:Most existing music sites and tools today only provide basic listening experience. Users are burdened with the manual maintenance of their playlists. A lot of time and efforts were spent on searching for music by name or going through popular music listings to handpick new music one by one to the playlist. Most of the time, users are much confused by the large amount of new music and songs, they usually do not know what to select. After getting tired of updating the list all the time, many users tend to stick with their old lists or music charts. Most music applications and sites usually have their own database collection of music sort by author, ratings, time, genre and other properties. Music recommendation could be done easily via user request and feedback. Applications can select music from database matching user’s input request. However, implementing a database with large collection of music data can be expensive and time consuming. The use of publicly available APIs, XML, RSS feeds could provide an alternative way to collect music resource and information. They could provide free, easy and faster way for developers to implement a music recommendation engine, although with its limitations. This report proposes a music player application on the iPhone, with its music recommendation engine implemented with the use APIs and XML.
