To do so, many companies have employed cloud storage services to data and manage their data. However, one of the major concerns with cloud is privacy and security of data. Recently, there are increasing amount of malicious attacks done to major companies such as Sony PlayStation Network, Citibank and Facebook. These attacks jeopardise their business and their customer’s private data. This highlights the importance of information security in cloud storage services. Contributing to information security are the three attributes: Confidentiality, Integrity and Availability. The aim of this project is to understand the importance of information security in a cloud storage environment and also demonstrate how it can be achieved through software and hardware implementation. Researches will be done on information security to deploy some of the essential infrastructure and protocol required to build a secure system. This project will research on some of the common attacks done and suggest ways to deter it. The end result of the project delivers a Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), Online Certificate Status Protocol (OCSP) server, key generation program, File Transfer Protocol (FTP) client/server pair and secure messenger. The project also suggests a suitable hardware deployment for the FTP server. Using the above program, the project is able to simulate what happens in a real world scenario, protecting the confidentiality and integrity of the user while maintaining high data availability.
