OneEmpower Pte Ltd provides customer membership and loyalty services to other businesses. As an intern in this company, I had opportunities to work with various loyalty systems that were actively being used by clients of the company. My job scope mostly involved the facilitation of various kinds of reports that give clients an overview of their business performance in terms of customer loyalty and transactions. A reporting engine called JasperReports is used to generate such reports in the PDF format. During the internship, many JasperReports-based report layouts were created, tested and deployed to automatically generate PDF reports for clients on a scheduled basis. A deep understanding of JasperReports from scratch was achieved through my hands-on practical work as an intern. For other clients, reports were to be generated in plain text format. In these cases, Java-based text report sources were created to automatically generate them on a scheduled basis. Through this work, a clearer understanding of the Java programming language was attained. A third major project I worked on was a database web portal which provides a comprehensive one-stop solution to a client in managing their database systems. Black-box testing was performed in various sections of this web portal, as well as a new version of web pages were designed to facilitate new customer requirements in a section. Working on this project, I gained a practical experience in black-box testing, as well as gained a more in-depth understanding of JSP technology. Various minor tasks were also performed during the internship.
