Summary: | Solar cells are the most highly utilised clean energy tools in the field of clean energy. Due to its relatively low output and high installation cost, various different permutations and combinations of components were researched to produce high performance solar cells and low cost so that many could reap the benefits of clean energy.
To date, many different types of solar cells exist, of which Dye Sensitized Solar Cells(DSSCs) are the up and coming one with the high potential to boost performance. As a lot of importance is given to clean energy due to the increase in awareness of pollution and other harmful effects on earth caused by conventional sources of electricity, it is vital to vamp the different aspects of DSSC to increase its performance and allow it to be the natural source of energy for mankind.
This paper examines firstly the working principle and limiting factors that affect the efficiency of solar cells. Secondly, the project endeavours to elaborate on major factors of efficiency which are the photo regeneration process, state of electrolyte and structure and properties of TiO2, and discuss the current research efforts and progress in each area. |
