The increasing concern over an aging population due to higher life expectancy and lower fertility is the key motivation of this paper. Characterized by a strong interventionist state, it would be in the paper’s interest to examine the various procreation policies adopted and the key factors contributing to the fertility decline in Singapore. This paper aims to study the reason behind the persistent decline in fertility rates since the 1970s by identifying various determinants. A simple econometric modelling technique was employed, allowing us to recognize the relationship and magnitude of each determinant. In conclusion, this paper recognizes the importance of policy makers to take into account the entire well being of the society.
