Summary: | The project ultimately seeks to show the attitudes the Chinese have towards the letterforms. The Chinese ideograph holds an imprint of time and space. Because of the idiosyncrasies present within each letterform, they encapsulate an idea, a memory and a voice unique in its construction. These words hence act as miniature time capsules allowing us insight into the lives and thoughts of a generation past. There is a belief that the words hold within themselves a microcosm of the cosmos; that each stroke within the letterforms contains a “heart” and a “soul”. |
