Summary:Rapid development of industrialization and urbanization has force Singapore to have more land reclamation and civil project to cater for the fast growing industrial and commercial sectors together with residential developments in Singapore. The construction and land reclamation projects drive the consumption of sand and its cost of has risen considerably over the years. This pose a major problem for Singapore as it raised the capital needed for development and reduces the potential benefits at the same time. To meet the demand, Singapore had to look elsewhere to meet the needs. The possibility of using marine clay, which is a waste created from industrialization and urbanization, to substituted sand or coarse aggregates to reduce the development cost is the main objective of this project. Beside marine clay, mixture of marine clay and Copper Slag was also tested.
