This project presents street style in Singapore through several journals that record experiences, breaking free from a typical street portrait where all we receive are fleeting glimpses into a stranger’s superficial outfit of the day. The designer believes that stylish individuals are more than what they wear, thus seeking to peel apart the layers of every individual. The exhibition is presented from afar as a photography exhibition, but upon closer examination, reveals itself to be a layered journal. The audience is invited to learn more about these individuals through browsing these journals. Street style in Singapore is currently viewed as a simple, generally full-body, posed portrait that is shared on various forms of print and online media. The designer begins the project with more traditional forms of street style, but ultimately hopes to capture street style in unconventional or candid portraits.
