The focus of this paper is to provide an overview of decision making in relation to employee recruitment and selection practices. It was determined that while theoretical models of decision making had significant research value, they are difficult to use in everyday recruitment and selection practices, owing to factors such as being too scientifically demanding, with little relevance to practical usage. At the same time, factors that influenced selection decision making were identified to address the need to give due consideration to these issues. Recommendations that seek to incorporate both theories and practices are offered. Implications and future directions are discussed.
