American Petroleum Institute’s (API) Recommended Practice 579 was the standard chosen for author’s final year project. API 579 is organized purposely into sections according to respective flaw and damage types. The focus of this project is to study closely with section 5 of API 579 which is assessment of local metal loss. The main objective of this project is to conduct a literature review on FFS assessment of local metal loss, and subsequently formulate the assessment procedures into Excel Spreadsheet. Due to the complexities of the actual processes, only main parts will be discussed in details in the report.
