Description
Summary:MEIS1 (Myeloid Ecotropic Viral Integration Site 1) is a transcription factor belonging to the TALE (Three Amino Acid Loop Extension) class of homeodomain proteins. MEIS1 is known to play an important role in embryogenesis and vascular patterning during vertebrate development. MEIS1 has been implicated in promoting the onset of myeloid leukemia in association with HOX proteins. Through Mass Spectrometry (MS) analysis, the Featherstone lab identified NONO (Non-POU domain containing, octamer binding) as a potential interacting partner for MEIS1. In this study, we aim to validate and understand the functional role of this interaction. Through co-immunoprecipitation (Co-IP) assays we have shown that NONO interacts with MEIS1. Our luciferase assay experiments demonstrate that NONO might serve as co-repressor in MEIS1-mediated transcriptional regulation.
