Summary: | This report is done by the author, and is dedicated to study on mixed convection flow over a vertical cylinder. The objective of the Final Year Project is to find out the effects of the curvature parameter γ and blowing parameter σ on the existence of dual solutions in an opposing flow (λ<0). Matlab is used to model the problem. Before the A/P Shu’s problem is modeled, the accuracy of the Matlab codes written and proposed by the author was verified against a study done by J H Merkin[12]. Once the codes were found to be robust and accurate, the Matlab codes were modified for A/P Shu’s problem. Simulation results show that unique and dual solution existed in an opposing flow. The effect of the curvature parameter is that as γ increases, the range of dual solution increases. The range of unique and dual solution decrease up to a point ? ? ?, where no solutions can be found. The effect of the blowing parameter is also investigated. Simulation results show that as σ increases, the range of dual solutions decreases, up till point ? ? ?, where dual solution cease to exist. The corresponding velocity and temperature profiles were also analysed. |
