Description
Summary:In recent years, the advancement and progress in the field of carbon nanotechnology has allowed for the creation of stronger and more lasting Carbon Nano-Tube (CNT) fibres. These CNT fibres are commonly used in the structural, electrical, chemical, mechanical and medical industries due to their exceptional thermal conductivity, mechanical, electrical properties and chemical inertness. In this project, the aim is to utilize the Raman Spectroscopy machine to obtain the Raman Spectra of a particular CNT fibre and experimentally determine the level of alignment of CNT in that particular spun fiber. We would be able to investigate the polarization dependence of the Raman peaks of the CNTs in detail. An experimental approach to estimate the alignment and defect density of the CNTs by use of the Raman technique would then be developed. Graphs depicting the various parameters like Intensity, Peak Position against the Rotation Angle and Twisting Speed will be tabulated in order to present the data collected more clearly.
