Description
Summary:Magnetism has existed since the beginning of time, from the natural-occurring elements to the magnetic fields of the Earth. It has played an irreplaceable role in our daily lives. By leveraging on the magnetic properties, products have been created and marketed as therapeutic products. Numerous claims have been made about these products, such as alleviating pain, increasing body performance, increasing healing rate and more. Approximately USD 5 billion in revenue has been reported from selling these therapeutic products. The purpose of this report is to discuss extensively existing documentation of past experiments studying on the effects of magnetism on individuals. From the research gathered, a total of 8 claims have been recorded. Reports of the effects of static magnetic fields on the biological system validate 7 out of the 8 claims, of which, Melatonin, a hormone secreted by the pineal gland, is responsible for 5 of the claims. There are on-going studies involving the use of magnetism in cancer therapy and other human biological applications, which might improve the quality of life for the respective individuals.
