Summary: | The project investigated the removal of carbon dioxide through carbonation of IBA, as well as its subsequent leaching behaviour and the potential for biogas upgrading. The level of carbon capture was investigated by varying the different IBA moisture content. Four sets of moisture level were experimented in this project: 0%, 5%, 10% and 20% (w/w). The experiment was carried out in an upflow reactor at a laboratory scale level with gas consisted only of N2 and CO2. A set of partially carbonated IBA was investigated under the condition with moisture content of 5% w/w. A trial of biogas purification via a laboratory scale anaerobic digester was experimented, using moisture content of 5% w/w. Two segments of IBA (top and bottom) were separated for each experimental set for further testing. |
