Summary:This essay argues about how Hong Hua’s gender disconnection as a transsexual in Singapore performs as a tabula rasa in Purple seeks to vindicate the voices of the oppressed male gender against political, social and cultural parliamentarian rule of Singapore. Using relevant examples in the context of Singapore, I will look at how the subaltern voice as silence challenges the political regulations in Singapore and also, art as an alternate canvas in deconstructing the Singaporean Dream. This essay observes to re-examining the meaning of life through the lens of the closeted masculine identity.
