Apart from economic benefits from importing materials and re-exporting high value-added products, the economic multiplier effects from ship services as well as related industries make visiting ships to be of significance in Singapore’s economy. Thus, the challenge for Singapore is how to make more economic benefits from visiting ships. This is especially important because Singapore is the busiest port in terms of total gross tonnage of ship visits (Premier hub port, MPA). |
